1. Persons with dual Canadian and United States citizenship:
If you have dual citizenship, you can receive a Pennsylvania teaching certificate. It is recommended that you do this even if you are returning to Canada immediately following graduation.
2. Persons without dual Canadian and United States citizenship:
a. Must have a United States Social Security number.
b. Must have Immigration Visa and Work Permit (Replaces Green Card):
-Required Visa/Permit #'s are: I-151 or I-551.
-The J# Student Visa is NOT acceptable.
-Need promise of a teaching position (Sponsoring institution).
-Must submit notarized copies of:
* Immigration Visa and Work Permit, *Permanent residence in the United States, *Statement of Intent to Become a United States Citizen within 6 calendar years.
c. These forms must be submitted along with the Instructional I application.
1. In order to receive your Ontario teaching certificate, you must meet ALL requirements for the Pennsylvania certificate, including the Praxis I & II testing requirements. It is also extremely helpful to have your actual Pennsylvania teaching certificate when applying for your Ontario certificate.
