The host family stay was an amazing experience. We were split up into partners and had a chance to live with a Costa Rican family for the weekend. It really put us out of our comfort zone, because most of the families did not speak English or make the kind of food that we may be used to eating. God really blessed me with a wonderful family who had children that were so enthusiastic about life, and they made me smile with joy when they all welcomed me into their family. I got to be a part of a wedding here in San Jose, which was so interesting and unique- they had a wedding cake but

never actually cut it. It was so amazing how these people love others and want to be a part of our American culture and life also. We spent our rainy Sunday traveling through the mountains and visiting family members and friends of the family. There is so much beauty here in this country and it has been a wonderful trip so far- we are just a bunch of college kids who have never really talked to each other before, coming together to worship God and to experience another culture. He has each one of us here for a purpose, and each day holds a new memory that we can share and write about.

Wow! How do I begin to describe the paradise called Costa Rica? It´s hard to put into the words the beauty of crashing waves, the sound of the palm trees, the brilliant colors of the tropical flowers and the unique Costa Rican Spanish accent. It is such a privilege to be here during a time that is normally so dreary and cold in Grantham, PA. We like to check the weather reports back at home and compare them with here so we can laugh at the snow reports…haha…but I´m sure God is showing all of you back at home unique things as well.

This class has been amazing—beyond my wildest imagination. We do so much, learn so much and have so much fun together as a group. It is such a blessing that the group has bonded so quickly and we have layers of inside jokes already. It´s so great! I think the greatest thing has been that God has been teaching me so much about myself and who I am

and what my culture is. I have been praying that God will show me more what my calling is since I have such an interest in Spanish and missions and he definitely has been putting people in my life that have helped me to think more through that calling and passion. It such a blessing to feel like I am right in God´s will. Please keep us in your prayers and thoughts.

Never would I have imagined that I would have the pleasure of staring a peacock straight in the face! After walking past the parrots that we attempted to converse with by saying "Hola!" we noticed something moving in the bushes ahead of us. To our surprise, it was a female peacock that seemed confused at our curiousity. Further up to the right the bushes cleared and revealed a peacock paradise. There were about six peacocks altogether: 3 male and 3 female. We tried to make the male display his

beautiful array of feathers, but unfortunately, the peacock did not give us that opportunity. Towards the end of our visit at the Zoo Ave, I was sitting alone by the open area where the peacocks roam when a male peacock strutted towards me with all of his feathers revealed. It was breath-taking! I cannot believe that I was a foot away from a peacock! This simple experience at the zoo has really caused me to think about God's inticate design of each living thing.
