Costa Rica Cross Cultural Trip

About the Trip

23 Students and 2 professors departed for Costa Rica on Thursday, January 5 for three weeks of discovery. The educational purpose of the trip is to help students step out of their familar surroundings and cultural blindness to open their eyes to different ways of doing things. Some of the students have already been outside the United States on mission and other cross-cultural trips. Some have not. This gives the student an opportunity to experience a different culture and to have the opportunity to evaluate their own in light of the differences. The course includes intensive study of the society through lectures and readings, as well an extended home-stay where students are paired off and spend a period of time with a Costa Rican family.
