Love God, Love People, Nothing Else Matters

Neighborhood outreach is the biggest component in Mission Year. On the weekends, when most people are resting, our job was to go out and meet people. This could happen by knocking on people's doors, baking cookies, raking a lawn, or simply playing ball in the park and talking to onlookers. Through opening up our doors to the neighborhood we were able to connect with a variety of different individuals.

Our main ministry was with children from the area. The kids in the area ranged from age 5-15. Almost everyday at least three of the usual 15 kids would be over our house.

We tried to do various activities with the kids. These included, dance parties, hikes to the local quarry, trips to parks and other sites downtown, playtime in the rivers, baking cookies, firework viewings as well as free lunches from opening businesses. Many of the kids, although younger than us, quickly became our very close friends.
