Alex Sharpe may be the newest addition to Celtic Woman, but she has cetainly brought an honest, thrilling excitement and charisma to the ensemble. Alex officially joined Celtic Woman as a vocalist in 2008, replacing former vocalist Orla Fallon. And although Alex may not be as well known yet to fans of Celtic Woman, she is certainly no stranger to the stage.
Alex grew up performing for audiences, beginning her career as Dorothy in "The Wizard of Oz" at the Olympia Theatre in Dublin. Since then, she has performed in multiple musicals, including the roles of Janet in "The Rocky Horror Picture Show," Jenny in "Aspects of Love," and Eponine in "Les Miserables," winning wide acclaim and fame for that particular role. Alex has sung with the Icelandic Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, The Danish National Symphony, and the RTE Concert Orchestra. Alex can also be heard on the "Evita" soundtrack alongside Madonna.
On joining Celtic Woman as a full-time vocalist, Alex says, "I knew about the success of Celtic Woman and was thrilled to join. It was an opportunity I couldn't say no to...Music, universally, is a language . . . to give you a respite from a troubling day. We just hope people walk away from the show in better spirits and feel that they got what they hoped for -- and hopefully a bit more!"
Alex enjoys spending time with her 7 year old son, performing beautiful music with Celtic Woman, and hopes to record a Christian CD one day. "My philosophy is, you're always growing as a performer. There's so much to learn." It is no question that Alex Sharpe strives to live by her philospophy.
