During J-term break 16 Messiah College students traveled to West Virginia on a Habitat for Humanity trip and became family. Going into it already knew about 4 of the girls but everyone else I quickly came to know as family. It was a 4 day trip and our first full day there we ended up getting iced in, but we made the best of it. Along with Cindy's guidance our team painted, cleaned, did inventory, hung bath room doors, and got the place ready for a cake walk. The on the second day some of us stayed behind and finished things that we didn't finish the day before. While the rest of the team moved things into a ware house until we got there. Once we were all there we joined a team from JMU and began to work on a woman named Rose's house. She was so thankful for us being there, she said we answered her prayers. We ripped off a bad ruff and laid down new tar mat. Since everyone couldn't be on the ruff at the same time others worked on clean the area around the house. That evening we were invited to a cake walk held by the community to raise money for families whose house had burnt down. Our team as a whole ended up winning over 20 different cakes altogether. It was a wonderful experience and a great way to get everyone to support a member of the community. The 16 members of our team still keep in touch and are planning on going on another trip together!!
