This creek originates in York County, PA and flows through the city of York on its way to the Susquehanna River. The creek has the nickname "the river of stench" in certain parts of York County. The upper reach of the creek is a beautiful heritage trout stream. The middle reach of the creek is biologically impaired due to a paper mill's effluent and certain industry in York, PA. The biology of Codorus Creek starts to improve in the lower reaches, just before emptying into the Susquehanna River

Research on Codorus Creek was performed by Michael Burrell and Jeff Erikson
