Nutrition: The hungry Caterpillar gets so caught up in eating food that tastes good that he forgets what kinds of food are healthy for him. When he started eating, he ate fruits, but at the end of the week, the Caterpillar eats only junk food and gets a very bad stomach ache. However, after he eats a healthy leaf, he feels better. Eating the right kinds of food keeps our bodies healthy and energetic. Without eating properly, we become very tired, worn down, and can even get sick.

Counting: The Caterpillar starts out eating only one apple on Monday. Then, on Tuesday, he eats 2 pears. Wednesday he eats 3 plums. Thursday he eats 4 strawberries. Friday he eats 5 oranges. Saturday he eats 1 piece of chocolate cake, 1 ice cream cone, 1 pickle, 1 slice of swiss cheese, 1 piece of salami, 1 lollipop, 1 piece of cherry pie, 1 piece of sausage, 1 cupcake, and 1 piece of watermelon. Finally, on Sunday, he only eats 1 leaf. The Caterpillar ate 26 things during the week before he became a chrysalis.
