  M. Scott Peck begins his book The Road Less Traveled with the following short paragraph:

Life is difficult.
A lot of confusion could be cleared up by a proper theology of suffering. Jesus' crucifixion preceded His resurrection. A proper theology of suffering begins with the observation that God did not place Himself above suffering. It shows that the solution to suffering is through rather than around the difficulty.

You may be confusing sin and temptation to sin. You want not to be tempted. God promises you only that you need not respond to temptation.
