  OK. I am a Protestant. Sex need not have a procreational aspect. Sex however is more than recreational. As a sacrament, it shows what being related to God is like.

Catholics do not teach that those who are sterile cannot marry. They do teach that those whose marriage has never included sexual intercourse may have the marriage annulled (declared to be not a marriage). Until it is annulled, it is a valid marriage. Thus the Catholic teaching about marriage and sex for procreation is about marriage as a social institution, not about individual marriages. In this respect, the Catholic view of marriage is similar to the Jewish view. (Prager)
