  I disagree with the American Civil Liberties Union that only individuals have rights, not societies. Living together is a social right -- the right of free association. Marriage is not a social right, not to mention that it is not a Constitutional right. Issues of social policy must follow from principles, and we're still discussing the principles here, so I will not give a more complete answer. And I will avoid posting other legitimate questions that follow from principles.

But as a matter of pure logic if I think that two women should not marry and two men should not marry, gender is not the basis of my discriminating, sexual preference is.
