Missions Abroad
One area of missions that most people think of when we use the word "missionary" is international missions, whether it be long or short term. Many students are beginning to get involved in missions by doing short term missions trips during school breaks with youth groups or other programs. These trips vary in organization and style; some help build churches, while others focus on ministry in schools and in the streets. However, no matter what type of trip it is, the goal of each trip is to share the love of Christ with others!
This past summer I had the amazing opportunity to go on a missions trip to Romania. We went into several orphanages and an AIDS home for children, and we brought balloons, candy, toys, and coloring books with us. We just spent some time with the kids to show them that they were loved and that the world had not forgotten about them. We also did some building work at the church we worked with, and we also went into an incredibly poor village to distribute food bags to the families. In all of these simple, practical gestures we were able to share the love of Jesus with the Romanian people.
