Trust: Something too Many Students have in the Internet?
January 20, 2012
When a student is given an assignment for school that has them doing online research, they must be careful about what sources they use and the information they gather. There are many websites on the Internet that any Tom, Dick or Harry can contribute too and although most websites have professionals adding information, there are websites out there that any person, who knows nothing about the subject matter, can post on. One website that comes to mind is Wikipedia. When I was in middle and high school, I was never allowed to use Wikipedia as a source because any one could add information to it. Now that I am in college and I have talked to other students from different high school backgrounds I have found that many consider Wikipedia to be a reliable source! Granted, Wikipedia is doing a lot of fact checking now to get rid of useless and false information, but I do agree with my previous teachers when it comes to the reliability of the website and the Internet in general. Students are developing too much trust in the Internet and I do not think that they realize that there are people that are out there simply to mess with them or who think they are experts on certain topics when they really are not. I guess the motto of the story is: be careful with what you learn on the Internet, it may not always be the truth.

Intellinet Network Solutions Unveils Its Fastest and Most Powerful Wireless Router Yet – the Wireless 450N Dual-Band Gigabit Router
January 18, 2012
In March of 2011, Intellinet Network Solutions released a new wireless router that could be used by not only businesses, but homes as well. I remember growing up with dial-up connection and how slow the internet connection was compared to the speed of my wireless connection. With that being said, I do however remember how fast I used to think the Internet was when we first got our dial-up connection simply because I had nothing to compare it too! I have never tried this new 405N Dual-Band Gigabit Router created by Intellinet, but I find myself asking, is it really the fastest wireless router out there? For a lot of people the speed of their Internet connection depends on the provider and also the person's location. Like I said, I have never tried this new router, but I cannot help but think that it is not really the fastest and most powerful router out there.

Is Microsoft Playing Copycat with Google?
January 13, 2012
Have you ever heard of the game of parrot? No, how about the game of copycat? Well both of these games are simply mimicking games that little children enjoy playing in which one person mimics every little thing that another person does. After a while the game can get pretty boring and, well, annoying. With that being said, I have a feeling that Google might be slightly annoyed with Microsoft*. In late June of 2011 Microsoft launched a new web-based productivity system called Windows 365, which similar to Google's Google Docs, which have been offered for quite some time now by the company. Although it is unknown whether Microsoft is "copying" Google by developing Windows 365, it is thought that Microsoft is benefiting from Google and vice versa.
*It is not stated that Google is annoyed with Microsoft. This is only related to a way a person may feel during a game of copycat.

Is Faster Internet Leading to Impatience in the World?
January 11, 2012
Here is my confession: I am not the most patient of people when it comes to certain areas of my life. I am able to make this confession because first of all, it is not a huge confession to make and secondly, I know I am not alone. My generation in particular is not as patient as the generations before us simply because technology (especially the Internet) has become faster and faster in the past years. Speed. That is the only thing my generation knows and unfortunately expects. As shown in the cartoon, patience is something our world is forgetting about because of the growing speed of the Internet and other technological devices.

Blogging May Help Teens Dealing with Social Distress
January 6, 2012
A few years ago I started blogging after learning from one of my teachers that it was a great stress reliever and at that time in my life I had a lot of stress to relieve. Although I have since shut down my blog, because it was hard to keep up with, I highly agree with the study's results. The reason that blogging is so therapeutic to a person in social distress is because it can help with imagination, expression and communication of feelings, which, over a period of time, can lead to a growth in self-esteem. There are many ways to communicate what is going on in a persons' life, but when there are websites like Blogger and WordPress, expressing a persons' feelings is suddenly at their fingertips if they are too uncomfortable to speak the feelings.
