Project Proposal
Overview of Project and Sponsor Organization
This project is beneficial to the West Shore Evangelical Free Church in terms of tracking the opinions of its members. We will be creating the survey system so that the administration can receive the results in order to better assess to the needs of the church members in the community. West Shore Evangelical Free Church has tried to further push ministry toward using the latest technology with the inclusion of login names and accounts on their web site (Becoming Like Jesus), so that their members can track and find contact information of other members as well as stay informed about the latest events happening with the church. Brad Coverdale will be in frequent contact with Joel Worrall as the project progresses to address concerns and to give ideas of how to make the application better.
Problem Statement
We are creating a new survey application on an existing server. Login features are already present, but there is no background for any previous survey system via their web site.
Project Objectives
We do not have these fleshed out at this point, since we have not met with John Nesbitt yet to determine the organization's expectations and desires. Obviously, we hope to deliver a working product that will serve useful for the organization.
Project Scope and Constraints
We also do not have these fleshed out at this point, but we do know that we will be using a MySQL database and JSP on an existing server within the organization.
Project Strategy
This will become clear after our meeting with John Nesbitt.
Budget
All of the technology is open source therefore as of this point this is no planned expense for the organization to use this application
Resources and Roles
Brad Coverdale: Liaison, JSP Chris Dries: Web designer, JSP Christina Felts: PowerPoint Presentation, MySQL modeling, JSP Joshua Henry: Main JSP programmer
Logistics
We plan on meeting with our contact before each milestone to check on progress of project. Brad will also be in contact with Joel via email during any times of concern. Also, we plan to meet as a team after our team meetings with Professor Nejmeh as well as Tuesdays nights from 9pm-12am.
Project Justification
We believe that this project satisfies the requirements for a Database Applications project. There will be multiple tables, with many relationships between the ones we create, and the ones that already exist on the current system. Also, the workload can be evenly distributed between the four group members, with no one doing too much or too little. Lastly, West Shore Evangelical Free Church is a non-profit organization that would not necessarily have the resources to accomplish this project on their own.
