Summarized Results of Milestone
![]()
We successfully completed Increment 1 for this milestone. We implemented a simple poll question as well as the simple ability to create, delete, post, and unpost surveys. The only question types available are Yes/No and True/False questions. This was described in the SRS under Increment 1. The necessary username and password have been emailed to the professor. Our meeting notes and updated UML diagram can be found in the deliverables section. The application can be viewed at Survey interface. The administration interface can be viewed at Admin interface.
Justification of Normalization Level
![]()
First we eliminated multivariable values to avoid parsing through the string to evaluate results. Next, we made sure all attributes are dependent on the primary or foreign key(s). We were persuaded to remain in second normal form because the amount of joins required to place it in third normal form would be too large and a waste of unnecessary space.
Strengths of Milestone
![]()
We successfully implemented the functionality expected of Increment 1. Everything works according to the specifications.
Weaknesses of Milestone
![]()
No apostrophes can be used in any textbox. The application only supports Internet Explorer. There is no link to the admin page from homepage (login needed and not yet implemented). The survey is not editable.
Error Checking: (Not necessary but more aesthetic and will inform user why
error has occurred. Functionality of survey still exists)
- add message box requiring input for # of questions to be a whole number, and
to make the number greater than 0
- cancel option needed for users taking a survey
