Milestone 5

CSC 333 Project Status Report

Project Name: HELP
Team Members: Dave Hess, Robert Lusk, Ria Ghose

Team Lead: Robert Lusk

Date Report Submitted: April 22, 2004
Time Period Reporting On: April 6 – April 22

1.      Progress Made

The database was switched from SQL to Access. All the tables, forms, reports and queries have been created.

Although there are a lot of bugs to be fixed, we have met all our requirements for increment 2. For increment 3 we still have not done the Laptop synchronization

2.      Plans for Upcoming Time Period Until Next Status Report Due

The database still has some glitches, our goal is to remove them and smoothen out the database as much as we can.

3.      Issues Resolved

Reports and queries, which were a key part of the requirements can now be generated on the fly.

4.      New Issues to be Addressed

The main issue at this point is for HELP to be able to incorporate this database into their system. We are concerned about the usability of this database.

Summary of Results of Milestone: 5

We have a working database for HELP in Access. This database meets most of all the requirements specified by HELP

·        The database has forms and reports based on the need of HELP

·        The DB also stores information based on how it is actually input in the real environment: for instance, the information taken in by the secretary when a client first come for help is stored separately from the detailed information about the client.

Strengths of Milestone: 5

·        The database represents most of the functionality used by HELP. They should be able to use this database for most of their current needs.

Weaknesses of Milestone: 5

·        The difficult will now be to export data from the previous database and import into Access.
