Christian Churches United HELP Ministries is an emergency human service agency. They work with people who are in need of “life sustaining services.” This includes: food pantry referrals, emergency shelter placement, prescription medication assistance, rental assistance and travel assistance. There are three basic components to this ministry: one is the needy who come to HELP ministries, the ministry itself, and the organizations that actually provide the help, like the food, or money, etc. HELP has a database that maintains name and case history, etc of their clients, who come to them for help and for the organizations that provide some of the amenities.
HELP would like to design and print reports based on different search criteria from what is currently implemented. They would also like to modify the DB according to their needs: like adding new fields and fixing bugs in queries and searches.
Our goals with this project are to create a new DB app for them based on mySQL that will fix many of the problems they are having now, as well as provide them with a DB that has more future potential than the current app (Alpha 5) Much of the functionality of the DB will remain the same, other than guaranteeing that things will work in the completed app that have errors in the current app. We also plan to update and add to their queries, enabling them to generate reports based upon who supplied the money (government, local, or sponsors), as well as simply printing a cumulative report of everyone assisted by their agency during a given time period
